Promoting Art in Schools

As part of the Strengthening Local Cultural Policy in Zimbabwe project in partnership with UNESCO, Amagugu International Heritage Centre conducted a dance training workshop at Madabe Primary School in Plumtree on 30 June 2017.

Led by Sunduza Dance Ensemble, the dance workshop focused primarily on the muchongoyo dance, which is the national schools dance for the years 2017 and 2018. The Sunduza team taught the learners muchongoyo dance routines, drumming techniques as well as songs associated with the muchongoyo dance. The workshop sought to prepare Madabe Primary School dance group for the Jikinya Dance Festival set for November 2017.
