MANDELA WASHINGTON FELLOWS VISIT AMAGUGU
It has been a while since they visited but we still cherish the memories. We hosted 80 Mandela Washington Fellows drawn from all corners of the country. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship of the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) program that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training and networking.
The Fellows, drawn from the 2014 to the 2017 cohorts, had convened in Bulawayo for an annual retreat and as part of team excursion visited Amagugu. Of particular interest was the open discussion that the fellows had with our Director Pathisa Nyathi on a range of contemporary socio-economic issues. See pictures and appreciate the vibe of the day.

BULILIMA DISTRICT ARTISANS IN LOOK AND LEARN VISIT TO AMAGUGU
Amagugu International Heritage Centre affiliated artisans had the pleasure of hosting artisans from Bulilima District in a look and learn visit. Basket weavers in Matobo have developed a reputation for producing immaculate products and Bulilima artisans, supported by Hand in Hand, spent the 27th of July 2017 at Amagugu tapping into the knowledge and skills of Matobo weavers. Elaborate discussions were held and ideas exchanged. The inspiration was palpable. The two groups exch
anged gifts in what symbolised the beginning of long term mutually beneficial collaborative working relations.
WEAVING THROUGH DESIGN OFFICIAL PHOTOS
Following an intense crafts products quality development and utilitarian value enhancement process, we invested in a photo shoot, all in an effort to demonstrate the intersection between fashion and weaving.
The Weaving Through Design exhibition is still showing
at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Make time and check it out.
